Itinerary

Day 1: USA

We depart today for Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. Dinner and breakfast will be served on our overseas international fl ight. (B,D)

Day 2: Tel Aviv – Tiberias

Upon arrival in Tel Aviv, we will be greeted by our tour escort and transferred to our hotel in Galilee for dinner and overnight. Already we can feel the heart of this land enchanting us as we plan to visit sites of the Bible and share the experience of walking in the footsteps of Jesus. (B,D)

Day 3: Tiberias

After breakfast we drive along the Mediterranean coast to the ruins of the ancient Roman capital Caesarea, built by Herod the Great in 22 B.C. Visit the Roman Theatre, the Aqueduct and Herodian Port. It is in Caesarea that St. Peter baptized Cornelius, his family and other gentiles. St. Paul sailed to Rome from Caesarea to spread “The Good News.” Continue to Haifa and see the magnifi cent panoramic view from the top of the mountain. Visit Stella Maris, a Carmelite Monastery built over the Cave of Elijah where the prophet lived and battled with the false prophets of Baal. Continue via the Valley of Armageddon to the excavation of Tel Megiddo. Continue up the mountains of lower Galilee to Nazareth to visit the Church of the Annunciation, built over the home of the Virgin Mary where the Angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she was chosen to bear the Son of God. A stop will be made at the Church of Mary's Well, where Mary drew water every day. We drive to Cana to the Franciscan Wedding Chapel where Jesus performed His fi rst miracle changing water into wine. Couples can renew their wedding vows before we return to Tiberias. Dinner and overnight. (B,D)

Day 4: Tiberias

Our fi rst stop today is in Magdala to visit the birthplace of Mary Magdalene, a prosperous fi shing center where Jesus and his disciples spent time. It is an exciting fi nd with remains of temples and synagogues dating to the fi rst century. We continue to the Sea of Galilee for a boat ride, then to the Mt. of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount, then to Tabgha, site of The Miracle of the loaves and fi shes, and fi nally to the Church of Peter's Primacy, where Jesus appeared to the disciples after His resurrection and told Peter, “Feed my sheep.” We proceed to Capernaum, the city of Jesus, where He healed Peter's mother-in-law, and preached at the local synagogue, then cross the Jordan River to the Land of Gaderenes. This afternoon we visit Caesarea Philippi where St. Peter proclaimed Jesus as the Messiah and Jesus replied, “that you are my rock and upon this rock I will build my church.” We return to Tiberias for dinner and overnight. Day 5: Jerusalem

We bid farewell to Tiberias and drive to Mt. Tabor, the traditional site of the Transfi guration. There will be time to celebrate Mass at the Basilica and refl ect on Jesus's Divinity and Humanity before we drive to Yardenit, the Baptismal Center on the Jordan River, to renew our Baptismal Vows. We continue to Jerusalem to check into our hotel. Balance of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight. (B,D)

Day 6: Bethlehem / Jerusalem

This morning our walking tour will take us through St. Stephen's Gate to the Old City. We begin at the Pools of Bethesda, where Jesus healed the lame man, and St. Anne's Church, home of the Blesses Mother's parents St. Joachim and St. Anne. We proceed to the Via Dolorosa, “The Way of the Cross,” stopping at the Chapel of the Flagellation and the Ecce Homo Arch to pray at each station along the way to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where mass will be celebrated. We will make a stop at the Western Wall before we drive to nearby Bethlehem, “The House of Bread,” to visit the Church of the Nativity where Jesus was born, stand on Shepherd's Field, and visit the cave where the shepherds were watching their fl ocks when the angel proclaimed Good News. Return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. (B,D)

Day 7: Jerusalem

We begin our sightseeing tour with a drive to the Mt. of Olives for an outstanding view of Jerusalem. Visit the Chapel of Ascension, where Jesus ascended into heaven, and the Pater Noster Shrine, where Jesus taught His disciples the Lord's Prayer. Continue along the Palm Sunday Walk to the Chapel of Dominus Felvit, where Jesus wept over Jerusalem, and to the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed His last prayers before He was betrayed and arrested. Mass will be celebrated in the Church of All Nations built over the “Rock of Agony.” See the Kidron Valley, and the tombs of Absalom, Zachariah, and James. Continue to Mt. Zion, to the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, where Peter denied Jesus three times, and to the room of the Last Supper, where Jesus and His disciples held the Last Supper and where Jesus appeared to the disciples after His resurrection. We will travel past the Hebrew University and the Knesset to arrive at the Israel Museum, where the Dead Seas Scroll collection is exhibited in the Shrine of the Book wing. The museum is also home to the recently constructed Model of Ancient Jerusalem, a display that will give us a better understanding of Jerusalem as it was in the time of Christ. We end the day with a visit to the recently excavated archeological site in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City and the Gihon Springs. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. (B,D)

Day 8: Munich

Today we fl y to Munich. Upon arrival we are greeted by our tour escort and transferred to Oberammergau for our two night stay. (B,D)

Day 9: Oberammergau

Today we join the people of Oberammergau to experience the Passion of Christ Play. In this charming village, surrounded by unforgettable alpine views, we will experience the last week of Christ's life. The entire village takes part in the play, which takes place every 10 years since 1634, in thanksgiving to God for sparing them from the black plague. (B,D)

Day 10: Oberammergau / Munich / USA

Today after breakfast we head for Munich Airport for our flight back to the USA, arriving home the same day. We take with us many good memories and many blessings to last a life time. (B)
